Junji Itō nació en Japón el 31 de julio de 1963. Hizo su debut profesional en el manga en 1987 y desde entonces ha sido reconocido como uno de los mejores artistas contemporáneos que trabajan en el género de terror. Algunas de sus obras más notables incluyen Tomie, Uzumaki, Gyo y Black Paradox, entre otras.
"Smashed" es un tomo que contiene trece pesadillas escalofriantes, presentadas por el maestro del horror.
