La canción homenajea a un pin-up dibujado por el artista Jim Lee, publicado en X-Men Vol. 2 #1 (1991), donde aparecen los X-Men en una piscina, todos en trajes de baño.

Este comic por haber sido el primer número de la serie, fue anunciado como un "Hito mutante". Tuvo la primera aparición de los dos equipos Blue y Gold X-Men liderados por Cyclops y Storm, y la mayoría de los X-Men aparecen con nuevos trajes y se lo ve al Profesor X usando su nueva silla flotante.

Este número vino con cinco (5) portadas variantes realizadas por Jim Lee, y sólo en uno de esos números aparece como página doble, la imagen: X-Men Pool Party.

Kirby Krackle es una banda de nerd-rock liderada por Kyle Stevens, que celebra canciones sobre lo mejor de los cómics, los videojuegos, la cultura geek.
