El grupo estadounidense de Trash Metal: Anthrax, le rinde homenaje con esta canción al personaje de comic Judge Dredd. “I am the law” (Yo soy la ley), es la frase de cabecera del personaje en en sus historias.
Judge Dredd es una historieta británica. Fue creada por el guionista John Wagner y el dibujante Carlos Ezquerra (aunque el editor Pat Mills también merece crédito en su desarrollo inicial) para el número 2 de la revista de historietas 2000 AD en 1977.
Su protagonista, el Juez Joseph Dredd, es un agente de la ley estadounidense en un futuro distópico donde los jueces como él reúnen en sí los poderes de policía, juez, jurado y verdugo. Dredd y sus compañeros están facultados para detener, condenar e incluso ejecutar a los criminales en el acto.
Como curiosidad, en el single de la canción, la portada está dibujada por el baterista del grupo, Charlie Benante, y además el sencillo incluye un poster en el que Benante dibujó al resto de los miembros del grupo uniformados como jueces.
